Welcome The DRH Movement are schools training volunteers for HUMANA People to People projects in Africa, Asia and Latin America. DRH is an abbreviation for “Den Rejsende Højskole” which means “The Travelling Folk High School” in Danish as it was in Denmark that the first DRH school started in 1970. In the first 10 years, thousands of young people went travelling to all parts of the world to meet with people and get a first hand understanding of the global reality which we are all part of. This was truly an eye-opener in many ways. To face the reality of fellow human beings, of whom many lived in poor and unacceptable conditions, naturally lead to the endeavour to minimize the gap between rich and poor.
Since 1970, more DRH schools have been established.
Today there are 13, located in 8 different countries on 4 continents: Europe, North America, The Caribbean, Africa and Asia.
Each DRH school is an autonomous institution in its own right. Each school has a number of ongoing programs, but common to all of them is the Development Instructor Program: a unique program in which people from all over the world are offered an opportunity not only to learn about the atrocities in the poor parts of the world, but also to join together and DO something, to take action and to make a difference at projects in Africa or Asia.
The schools works closely in cooperation with HUMANA People to People about the Development Instructor Programme. Humana People to People run around 200 development projects in Southern Africa, Latin America, India, and China, reaching a total of around 5 million people.
The DRH Schools have trained until now more than 10.000 Development Instructors.
THE PROGRAM
